Ben Rogers Jones is the appraiser, researcher and cataloguer for items of Welsh interest and has over twenty years professional experience in Welsh art. We are the market-leaders in this field and the only auction house to hold an established auction specialising in 'all things Welsh'.

The Welsh Sale auction in 2018 achieved a record of £1m in sales from three seasonal Welsh auctions. The auction is held for best results in the nation's capital Cardiff.

Our two salerooms in North & South Wales complemented by our West Wales regional office in Carmarthen means that we can deliver a personal service for Welsh art vendors anywhere in Wales.

The Welsh Sale auction is usually held in early spring, summer and late autumn / winter from our Cardiff saleroom and typically includes Welsh antiques, Welsh furniture, Welsh pottery and porcelain with Welsh pictures.

Over the years we have achieved record prices for artists and Welsh antiques, including the highest hammer price for a painting by Sir Kyffin Williams RA as well as for John Knapp-Fisher, Claudia Williams, Will Roberts and other artists.

Having held The Welsh Sale for such a long period of time, we have developed an enviable database of collectors of everything Welsh. It is not unusual to receive Welsh entries for the auction from overseas, or for us in fact, to sell items to collectors abroad. One of the main advantages of selling your items at The Welsh Sale is that it is unique event in the auction calendar, recognised internationally but critically it is very well-known in Wales. It has not been forgotten by us that most buyers of Welsh fine art, whether that be paintings, porcelain or antiques - are Welsh people who predominantly live here in Wales.

If you have potential entries for The Welsh Sale auction please contact us in good time. We require entries at least six weeks before the auction but sooner again is preferred.

Please note that we assess items for their suitability for The Welsh Sale and not all Welsh items are selected for the auction. Please also note that unfortunately we do not sell artist's own work at The Welsh Sale.
